Laptop Setup:

  1. MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, Mid 2015, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM.
  2. Apple Magic Mouse 2
  3. Apple External Keyboard. The chicklet keys are just amazing.
  4. Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB External Hard Disk.
  5. Dell U2715H monitor (In the list - coming soon)

Mobile:

  1. One Plus X. Its one of the most elegant devices that I own. The detail given to the craftsmanship and artisan luxury is just amazing.

Audio:

  1. Apple Ear pods with Remote and Mic. Unlike traditional, circular earbuds, the design of the Apple EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear.

For listening to music I use iTunes on desktop and Google Music on mobile/tablet.

Software

OS: OSX El Captain(10.11.6)

Development: I use iTerm2 for command line. I spend most of my time on either terminal or browser. Some of the terminal tools that I use daily:

  • Vim for all my coding
  • Git for version controlling. I put nearly everything in a git repo
  • SCM Breeze for easy git
  • Whole lot of custom scripts

A5 ruled notebook and Stabilo fine tip pens for sketching when I am working on a user interface

Browser: Google Chrome with the following must have extensions:

  • Postman for API development and testing
  • Ghostery to block all the social nonsense
  • JSONView for pretty JSON
  • Motivation for nothing is more motivating than to see your life pass by right in front of your eyes
  • Pocket for offline reading

Web Apps:

  • Most of Google stuff
  • Dropbox for document management. Special mention because I nearly put all of my design stuff here.
  • Twitter for bite sized updates
  • Feedly for RSS

Desktop Apps: The few desktop apps that I do use include:

  • Slack for team chat
  • Flux for it slowly warms the colors of your screen based on the time of day. This helps me work late in the nights without straining my eyes.
  • Sublime for those few times when I feel like moving out of vim
  • VLC. Because if not this then what else
  • Irvue for stunning photos in high resolution for desktop wallpapers.
  • Principle to change ideas into reality. Powerful prototyping.
  • Boostnote open-sourced note app for programmers.

One Plus X: I do a lot on my mobile now a days. Some apps that I use multiple times a day:

Photos:

  • Instagram for sharing photos
  • CandyCam for times when I need more than Instagram filters

Reading:

  • Hacker news reader for latest tech updates.
  • Flipboard I take time to completely go through the technology section.
  • Pocket for offline reading
  • Feedly for rss feeds of must read blogs

Social:

  • Twitter to find inspiration about things I love.
  • Whatsapp for staying in touch

Productivity:

Tools:

  • Camscanner for creating soft copies. Highly recommended for students.
  • Filedrop for moving files over WiFi
